Due Diligence for Pawning

Check out the pawn shop with the Better Business Bureau. The BBB says pawn shop problems tend to increase in tough economic times because more people are using them. So make sure your shop doesn’t have any complaints filed against it.

Have an idea what your items are worth before you go in.

Get a receipt.

Get multiple offers on an item and you’ll get the best deal.

If you don’t like the deal, don’t take it.

At the Gold and Silver Pawn Shop, Chumlee makes for great comic relief in the store and on the show. He tends to get blamed for everything, like the time two western cowboy dummies appeared in the store and Rick told him that was, “the stupidest thing you’ve ever bought.” Turns out the “Old Man” bought them for $500. He liked them so much he even named them—Ed and George. Chumlee is a childhood friend of Corey’s and “like a son” to Rick, but he’s often the butt of all the jokes. He’s also the one who gets to try out things that have been used for centuries, such as old rifles and other things that go boom!
